Orting District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Orting School District invests in its teachers by offering many opportunities for professional development in curriculum and instruction, which in turns helps the students succeed. All curriculum used in the district is designed to support the Washington State Standards. The district leaders do focus on the Power Standards set
forth by Washington State.
Elementary curriculum in English ensures that students have the reading and writing skills necessary to succeed in school and life. All academic subjects seek to develop literacy and critical thinking skills that students will use in various pursuits. Programs are set up in the primary and intermediate schools to assist both accelerated learners and remedial learners. Students may be enrolled in the highly capable program or Read180 for English. In Math, the educators believe mathematic fluency and computation are the most important part of a younger person’s math skill set and focus on these outcomes when delivering and designing instruction.
