Camden District and Curriculum
The mission of Camden City Public Schools is to provide an atmosphere of rigorous teaching and learning in a safe environment. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Camden District Curriculum
Students throughout their education work with a variety of materials to increase skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and language as intertwined areas. Mathematics on the elementary level focuses mainly on developing basic math concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, division and fractions as well as geometry and algebraic thinking. In the middle and high school, students continue to build on previous knowledge as they explore the number system, geometry and algebraic thinking.
Elementary students learn science through a myriad of materials and hands-on experiences. They learn the principles of the scientific method of discovery. Middle school students continue to learn through experimentation as well as building upon prior scientific knowledge. High school students learn to use and interpret data during studies and experiments relying on the scientific process.

Keeping Informed: Recent Camden Educational News
- Rutger’s Bullying Prevention Institute - Camden Schools was selected to participate in the Rutger’s Bullying Prevention Institute this year. Camden is the only school from South Jersey to be selected to participate in this event.
- Wellness Policy - Camden Public Schools has adopted a new wellness policy for all members of the school community. The policy focuses on healthy eating and nutrition as well as getting physical activity.
- Athletic Field Groundbreaking - A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Rejuvenation of the Camden High School Athletic Field as a run-up to the year’s graduation. The festivities included speakers, dancers and the Camden High School marching band and cheerleaders.

Stay off the computer; you are more likely to do surf the Web or check your email. Make sure you have all the materials you will need ahead of time.
