The instructors of this school district follow the Oklahoma Department of Education’s standards in Science, History and other subjects, and focus on the Common Core Standards Curriculum of English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Choctaw District Curriculum
Seeing the benefits and purposes of mathematics is encouraged and taught by the instructors in all grades. In the elementary grades, the students are instructed about the concepts of geometry, measurement, introduction to algebra concepts, and how to analyze data in graphs by way of informal instruction. When teachers incorporate informal instruction, it gives the younger children a way to understand and comprehend the mathematics standards by investigating, manipulating, and discovering the concepts.
In English Language Arts, the students are exposed to new vocabulary each day, and the teaching of vocabulary acquisition is a key element in Language Arts instruction. Students are taught how to learn new words and remember them through the use of dictionaries, the taught concepts of word roots and affixes, word origins, using the thesaurus and the teachings of synonyms and antonyms.

- Early College Credit - Students can gain early college credit through the EOCTC, as known as the Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center, continues to grow and prosper as it serves over 600 students per year. Being technologically sound, the college has recently opened up many new course offerings. Students at Choctaw High School are welcome to explore the options at EOCTC
- Gold Achievement Award - Choctaw High School has recently been awarded the High Schools that Work Award of Gold Achievement! During the 2012 Summer Staff Development Conference in New Orleans, LA, this school was given this award which focuses on excellence in student achievement in the subjects of reading, science, math, and within the career and technical curriculum.
- Small Learning Communities - The $500,000 grant that Choctaw High School received in 2004 was the start of the Smaller Learning Communities academic and social program. Focusing on careers, professional development, transition programs, and at-risk programs, the program allows small learning groups to be taught within the larger school. This is to ensure greater academic success for all students.

Chalk Talk: The Guidance Office
The Guidance Office in the elementary school is usually the place where school records are held; conferences and peer remediation are conducted, and is where the guidance counselor works. The guidance counselor usually goes from classroom to classroom for lessons related to social issues and family topics. The guidance counselor’s office is helpful to the elementary school as it is the hub for children to go if they need to talk to someone about any issue they are having with family or peers, so they can get back to being successful in the classroom.
