EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe each student has the potential to go to a post-secondary institution and become positive citizens in the community. Student learning begins with hands-on activities, student-centered activities and one-on-one attention. My goal for each of my students is to become a self advocate and a life long learner.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from the University of North Florida located in Jacksonville, Florida. I majored in History and minored in Education. In addition, I have earned 9 credit hours of American Sign Language while working on my Bachelors degree. I have plans to begin taking Graduate courses within the year to further my education.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a teacher with Duval County Public schools for the past three years. I have taught Intensive reading to at-risk students for two years to freshman and juniors. In addition, I have taught the AVID college preparation elective to seniors and sophomores. I understand the importance of education especially with students that lack motivation.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am currently involved in Scholarship club by recommending specific scholarships to Juniors and Seniors. I hold an annual clothing drive and all clothes are donated to students that need additional clothes through out the school year. Also, I am the club sponsor of S.W.A.G. club (Saved With Amazing Grace) and is a student-led prayer group that meets once a week.
