In science classes, students study a variety of topics, including earth and space science, life science, and physical science. Kindergarten students start by exploring the solar system and basic properties of matter. As they progress, the emphasis shifts from the immediate environment to include the universe, as well as more intricate scientific concepts. Students may work in teams to practice problem-solving skills and interactive thinking.
College preparation is also a goal in Orange County Public Schools. Students may take AP and dual enrollment courses to earn college credit in many areas. Chalk Talk: How to Edit an Essay
You’ve just finished writing an essay that you’re sure will get an A from your teacher. It’s interesting, stays on topic, and flows seamlessly. All that’s left is to run it through spell-check to find and correct any tiny mistakes, right? Consider that while spell-check is a wonderful and time saving tool, it doesn’t always catch poorly worded phrase or other areas in your paper that could be improved upon. It’s a good idea to take the time to edit your paper yourself as well so that you can hand in the best version possible. The first step of editing is to read your essay aloud. Hearing how a sentence sounds may highlight areas that can be reworded. If you’ve got other essays that have been graded, pull those out as well and see which areas were praised and which were highlighted for correction. Finally, ask someone else to read your paper. Another pair of eyes will sometimes catch mistakes that you’ve overlooked. Now you’re ready to hand in your best work!
