About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
When students feel and believe that the teacher really cares about their success they respond positively and advance. Even more important than content is caring.
The most important activity of a teacher when first meeting a student is to spend time getting to know the student’s personality, needs and expectations. Then and only then can a teacher effectively open learning opportunities to the student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received a BA in Philosophy from Sacred Heart Seminary. Later, I received an MA equivalent degree in Theology from St. John’s Theological Seminary.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I worked as the Senior Narcotics Advisor/Teacher in Malaysia from 1979-83 which involved teaching students the basics of drug rehabilitation. I succeeded in overcoming the many cultural differences between myself and my students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I founded and administered the first and largest non methadone, long term (2-3 years) drug rehabilitation program in Detroit, Michigan which involved interacting with various disciplines related to substance abuse rehabilitation such as legal, educational and employment.
