EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe our job as educators is to provide our students with the problem solving skills – to teach them to be better thinkers. I believe this happens through explicit instruction, along with the provision of concrete (real-life) examples. Providing encouragement and actively engaging in both the learning experience from both the perspective of a learner and that of a teacher are tantamount.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Kansas State University, a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from George Mason University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have several years of teaching experience in both the secondary and university settings. I have worked as a tutor and independent educational consultant for three years, working with students from third grade through Master’s level.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I love to be outside and active with my family. We love to rock climb, hike, camp, and compete in distance running events. We have traveled extensively and look forward to many new adventures.
