The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills is the curriculum used in El Paso Independent School District. It was developed under the guidance of the Texas Education Agency and provides a series of rigorous expectations in all academic subjects. Students are benefited from continuity in their learning because the curriculum progresses within the same subject-area topics from elementary through high school. The Texas Education Agency also makes use of a number of other curricular guidelines to support college and career readiness including middle school STEM learning opportunities, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Early College High School programs.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fort Bliss District Curriculum
Algebra is a part of the mathematics curriculum. At Fort Bliss schools this topic includes the ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of numbers and operation. In addition, students make qualified statements about the rate of change of functions and develop quantitative reasoning skills and are able to use these skills in the study of geometry, probability and statistics and more advanced topics. These problem solvers are able to see the application to algebra in every area of their lives.
The English curriculum at El Paso Independent School District develops reading, writing and critical thinking skills in the students. Each year the students work on building their vocabulary as well their ability to use proper grammar. In addition the students read many different genres, including literary and informational texts. They also have opportunities to write for a number of purposes with a particular emphasis on developing their analytic writing skills. After graduation, each of these skills will be used throughout their adult lives.

Keeping Informed: Recent Fort Bliss Educational News
- Theater Club - Theater helps each student grow in the areas of communication and creativity. Members of this group learn how to perform on stage and how to make a performance possible from behind the scenes. The students are then able to apply the skills they develop and use them away from the theater as well.
