The Cleveland Independent School District adheres to the expectations in the Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS) curriculum frameworks. The frameworks are designed for each subject so that there are appropriate grade-level goals for learning that all students must achieve. The objectives contain a range of skills, knowledge and concepts, and critical thinking processes that students should be able to grasp. Throughout their education, all students also receive the supports and enhancements to the curriculum needed for their individual success. Additionally, the district offers many extracurricular learning opportunities so that students can connect with their interests.

Chalk Talk: Stopping Cyberbullying

Bullying is never good, but when it occurs on the internet it is difficult to put a face with the action, so parents may not be sure how they can stop it. Parents can take the first step by making sure to keep communications going between the child and themselves. Talk with them about how to safely use the internet beginning when they show interest in the computer. It is also important that the child realizes that things that are said on the internet cannot be taken back. They need to understand that instead of commenting to a classmate on-line, they should talk with the other face-to-face. Parents need to place the computer in an open place in the home so that the teen knows the parent can monitor the screen. Parents also need to be aware of the language that is used when children talk with each other, plus set limits on how much time each child can spend on the computer.
