Get Your Child Ready for the MECAS

SchoolTutoring Academy’s MECAS Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s MECAS tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our MECAS Tutoring Program includes regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the MECAS

The Maine Comprehensive Assessment System for state testing begins in 3rd grade. Elementary testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics occurs yearly from 3rd to 8th grade via the Maine Through Year Assessment (NH SAS). Students also take the Maine Science Assessment in 5th and 8th grade. Once in high school, students take a final Maine Through Year Assessment in 10th grade along with a final Maine Science Assessment in 11th grade. Students with severe cognitive disabilities may take the Multi-State Alternate Assessment (MSAA) as an alternative. For more information on the MECAS you can visit the Maine Department of Education website.
