Get Your Child Ready for the WY-TOPP

SchoolTutoring Academy’s WY-TOPP Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s WY-TOPP tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our WY-TOPP Tutoring Program includes regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the WY-TOPP

Wyoming state testing begins in 3rd grade as part of Wyoming’s Test of Proficiency and Progress (WY-TOPP). From 3rd-8th grade, students complete tests annually in Reading and Mathematics. Additionally, 4th and 8th grade students take Science assessments, with 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students taking Writing assessments. Once in high school, students are assessed in Reading and Mathematics again in 9th and 10th grades, along with Writing in 9th grade and Science in 10th grade. Finally, 11th grade students take the ACT with Writing. Wyoming’s Alternate Assessment (WY-ALT) also exists for students with severe cognitive disabilities. For more information on the WY-TOPP you can visit the Wyoming Department of Education website.
