About Me

The individual student is more important than the curriculum. Each student is unique and may require different approaches to learning. The teacher should cater to different learners by incorporating into their lesson plans assignments and demonstrations that learners of all types and paces can understand.

Teachers should devote additional time to students who need more one on one attention and direction, and should allow advanced learners the opportunity to express their ideas and utilize their skills through flexible assignments. Students are the most important aspect of any classroom, and should always feel that they are supported and encouraged by their teachers.

I have a Master of Arts in English, and have primarily focused on English literature and creative writing in my studies. I have over 30 graduate hours in literature and writing, as well as college credit courses on teaching writing. I attended graduate school remotely while working as a writing tutor at a local community college.

I currently tutor high school and college students in writing and English. I assist students in all stages of the writing process by answering questions and offering supplemental instruction in the areas of grammar, punctuation, style, and format. I believe in helping students to become confident and self-sufficient writers, so I do not fix problems for them; rather, I help the student to identify and fix their own errors.

I enjoy reading and writing, as well as traveling. I love to take road trips to nearby cities and states, and explore historic sites. I also love to take international trips by plane, and hope to one day take an Alaskan cruise.
