EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Teaching children is about helping a student discover their path to becoming a learner. We have failed students if all we have taught them are facts to memorize for a test. A student’s success comes through becoming a critical thinker so that no matter the situation they can overcome. Education is to prepare them for life; it is the training ground for their minds and hearts.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I changed schools quite frequently and was homeschooled through a few of my years. I understand what is like to work with little direction and also what it is like to have a one on one teacher. Education is very important to my family with the many other educators in my family line.
After graduating from a small high school I went to Colorado Christian University for my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. My thesis was focused on Fleming’s three main learning styles and how to utilize each one every day in the class room. This lesson holds dear to my heart as a goal to make learning an experience where you discover.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
After I finished college I moved to Colby, Kansas and taught in a multi-grade 4th/5th classroom. Currently, I am substitute teaching for the local schools.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I run a Video Editing/Videography service. While I was at my last school, I also taught music class and directed the elementary Christmas program. I was in choir, drama, and speech club, which lets me put an emphasis on public speaking and music into the classroom material.
