About Me

My educational philosophy rests on critical thought. I believe that each learner has within them the capacity to engage with a variety of materials in a way that allows their individuality to thrive. My perspective promotes independence and positions me as a facilitator, connecting information and education, and providing the tools necessary for meaningful engagement with knowledge.

I consider myself a life long learner. I have a Master’s Degree in Immigration and Settlement studies, where I carried out research on immigrant children and their experiences with the Canadian education system, as well as the success of international students in Canadian post-secondary institutions. To compliment this achievement I have also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, and a Post-Bacclaureate diploma in International Studies.

I have always been involved in education in some capacity. I have worked as a Writing Tutor and a Teaching Assistant for an intensive academic ESL program at Ryerson University. I have worked as an ESL tutor for students of all ages, working toward a variety of educational goals. Presently I work as a facilitator for international students, promoting academic skill development and life success, using post-secondary education as a platform.

Many of my extracurricular activities are education related. I work as a volunteer community literacy tutor, coaching, tutoring and mentoring adult learners. I am involved with an academic journal both as an editor and a contributor, and am closely involved with World University Services Canada, where I support the committee transition as students graduate.
