EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The ultimate goal of my teaching is to create a safe environment where students are engaged, energized and enthusiastic about learning, so that they become self-managed, confident and independent learners.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with a minor in Middle School Mathematics Education from Eastern Illinois University. Later I received my Masters of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University, with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction. I also received an Outstanding Professional Award in 1998 and was the 2008 Teacher of the Year.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I taught in Tennessee for a year in 1992, then moved to Germany for two years to work as a substitute teacher. After that, I worked as a tutor for 10 years, helping students of all ages in many subjects. From 2005 until early 2014, I worked as a Middle School teacher for all subjects. Recently I have began work as a Curriculum Specialist.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Staff Sponsor for yearbook for three years. Coached ten to fifteen middle and high school students on the photography, interviewing, planning, blocking,and publishing aspects of producing a quality yearbook product.
