EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that each child is a unique individual capable of growing intellectually, emotionally and socially through a caring, stimulating and safe educational environment. As an educator, my goal is to enable a student to achieve to the best of their ability.
I strive to guide students through teaching, while allowing for self discovery and to help them develop a passion for learning. As an educator I will continue to grow and improve my skills every day
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I attended the University of Delaware for undergraduate studies, attaining a Bachelor of Science in Family and community studies/Direct Client services. In addition I took courses for elementary education. After graduating, I found a love for teaching and returned to school, attaining a Master of Arts in Teaching/Special Education from College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been an educator for Harford County Public school since 2005. I have taught Early Intervention (3-5yr old children with special needs), and Kindergarten and 2nd grade inclusion special education. While teaching I ran the reading intervention before school, was the department chair and super user for the IEP program.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Currently I am a member of a local church and community club. In addition I volunteer at my sons school assisting with scholastic books and class activities. Finally, I have recently started participating in Boy Scouts of America with my son and have assisted with the Cub Scout camp running the citizenship station.
