Education should be student centered. Our job as teachers and tutors is to develop our students skills and help them reach their greatest potential. The way to achieve this is to understand how they learn, and form our lessons to best suit their needs. I also believe that education is an endless process. As my students learn from me, I will also learn from them.

I took Concurrent Education, Junior/Intermediate Integrated studies, qualifying me to teach grades 4 through 10. This program required me to take courses in all subjects, gaining a basis for teaching every area in elementary. However, I also focused my studies on English and History. Through my Education courses, I studied such topics as literacy, reading, management and lesson planning.

During university I was a tutor for the Niagara Catholic District School Board, and completed two practicums in the elementary grades. I also volunteered in schools during my spare time. In high school I volunteered for two semesters in the ESL classroom, developing a passion for teaching English as a Second Language. The past year I have been teaching English in South Korea to students ages 6 to 13.

During the summer months I play softball with a local league. It’s something I have a passion for and have been doing since I was 12. Before I moved to Korea I was also involved with my church, taking on the responsibility of Youth Minister. I also attended World Youth Day as the representative for my church.
