EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy of education is to equip students with the tools and strategies they will need to succeed in school and life. To share with students my passion for learning, caring for life and sensitivity towards others. My goal is to create a warm, safe and inclusive environment for my students to grow and become better citizens.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology in 1978, I continued my studies in 2013 with a Bachelor of Education degree at Brock University. In addition I completed several workshops on SmartBoard Tech, Stop-Motion Video/Animation and a course with Tribes (TLC) also in 2013.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience starts from an ESL background of 18 years in Japan with my own company, at a junior high school and a top-notch kindergarten, to 2 years volunteering at Burlington Central High School.
I’ve continued volunteering at two elementary schools after graduating from Brock University teaching program. This includes Gr. 3, 4, 6 and a combined Gr. 3/4 class. Lastly, I have tutored hundreds of students throughout my career, of all levels and needs.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Having been involved with teaching for over two decades, I’ve learned to dance, sing, play Santa Claus numerous times, and direct yearly musical/festivals of upwards 350 students. From that comes my love of art: everything from oral storytelling, with puppets and my own characters, as well as writing short stories and longer works still in progress. I’m an avid tech buff having built my own computers since I was a teenager.
