EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I like to consider each persons whole identity, and acknowledge their strengths. Using creative techniques and understanding someone’s learning style promotes success for the student and the teacher.
I believe it is necessary to assess where the student is at in regards to their academic and emotional level in order to facilitate their educational growth in becoming the best they can be. A lot of the learning resonates best when the learning occurs within the students natural inquiry, instead of rote memorization tactics.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I believe in the power of an education and have worked hard at completing mine while raising a family. I have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Art and I am nearing the completion of a Master’s Degree in Psychology on a path to Counseling and Art Therapy.
The many modalities and applications art provides us in a classroom is endless in every subject within a learning environment.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught ages 4 through adult in public and private schools and at the collegiate level to incoming Freshmen students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I love spending time reading a good book, camping, enjoying nature, hiking, visiting the ocean, cooking and walking my dogs. I played soccer and ran track when I was a student and value the importance of self care and exercise. The outdoors is a huge classroom waiting to be explored.
