Get Your Child Ready for the DeSSA
SchoolTutoring Academy’s DeSSA Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s DeSSA tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our DeSSA Tutoring Program includes regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the DeSSA
The Delaware System of Student Assessment (DeSSA) for state testing begins in 3rd grade. Elementary testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics occurs yearly from 3rd to 8th grade. Students also take the Next Generation Science Assessment (NGSA) in 5th and 8th grade and Social Studies assessments in 4th and 7th grade. Once in high school, students take the SAT in 11th grade as a graduation requirement along with a Biology (10th grade) assessment. Students with severe cognitive disabilities may take the Delaware Alternate Assessments. For more information on the DeSSA you can visit the Delaware Department of Education website.
