Get Ready for the SBA/WCAS Assessments

SchoolTutoring Academy’s SBA and WCAS Tutoring Programs start with an ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT with an Academic Director. This assessment informs your child’s tutor about their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses so the tutoring program can be tailored to their specific needs. Our SBA and WCAS tutoring programs include regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Understanding
the SBA and WCAS

Washington state testing begins in 3rd grade. From 3rd-8th grade, students complete Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in ELA and Mathematics. Additionally, 5th and 8th grade students must also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS), focusing on Science. Once in high school, 10th grade students must again complete the SBA in ELA and Mathematics and 11th grade students must complete the WCAS. These are graduation requirements. For more information on SBA and WCAS testing you can visit the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction website.
