There are many reasons as to why students are encouraged to write SAT subject tests. Commonly, these are a recommendation from the admissions committee at specific universities and colleges. Students may also take Subject Tests to show their skills and talents in a specific subject area. In some cases, if students do very well on SAT subject tests, they may not be required to take introductory level courses in that subject area in their first year of college.

At SchoolTutoring Academy, we offer SAT subject test help for 5 different subjects as listed below. Click on the links below in order to learn more about each of our different SAT subject test prep programs:

Format of the SAT Subject Tests

Each SAT subject test is an hour long test that is comprised of multiple choice questions and possibly other formats, depending on the particular SAT subject test. Depending on the test, there can be anywhere from 50-90 multiple choice questions.

Your SAT Subject Test Score

The SAT Subject test score can be use as an additional test that has been added to the application to colleges and universities across America alongside the SAT or ACT.

Each test is given a score from 200-800 and can be used to showcase talent in a specific area to assist with your application, or it can be used to count towards specific introductory course credits in college.

What is a Good SAT Subject Test Score

Most SAT subject tests are taken by students that are already relatively strong in the given subject.

Thus higher scores are typically needed on a given test to impressive college admissions staff. The scores of the majority of students on each Subject Test is discussed in each individual section.

“For students taking Subject Tests, I always like to first make sure we have mastery of the core SAT test and then focus on how to leverage this knowledge into a particular subject test.”
