Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Anthony District Curriculum

Common Core focuses in on the the areas most important for further education and for working. In English and Language Arts students are tasked with learning to read, write, speak, and listen and use language skills appropriately. English fluency standards are also used in other core subjects including Science, Social Studies, History, and Technology courses. Students learn to read for evidence and develop critical analysis skills in literature and informational text.

Students are required to apply these skills for use in reading and writing progressively more complex text. In Mathematics the focus is on learning basic mathematical knowledge in a finite number of subjects including probability, measurement, statistics, algebra and geometry. Students build on the proficiency they have gained from year to year. The expectation is that students will have a foundation in math which they can then apply to other fields and to higher math.

There is also a special section just for kids called Fun with Glaciers where children can play a flash powered glacier game where you have to find the lost gear in a time sensitive game.
