Chalk Talk: What Will I Learn in Algebra?

You might be taking algebra in school, and you want to know what to expect. Algebra is the mathematical study of constants and variables. It helps you to find an unknown answer and to see how changing one thing affects the outcome. First, you will learn all the rules about how to solve algebraic equations. Then, you will learn how to take a real life problem and change it into a mathematical equation to be solved. Algebra can help you solve problems in finances, crafts, medicine, and almost any knowledge area you can name. Algebraic concepts do not come easily to many people, so be prepared to practice and ask for help when you need it.
