The core standards focus on processes on inquiry, scientific knowledge, forming hypotheses, and the ability to test and verify theories. They are assessed continuously to see that this happens. The skill of inquiry is an important part of science studies. Students are encouraged to inquire to find evidence of existence of truths in the world. Much emphasis is given to environmental studies and understanding natural processes.

When very young, the children are exposed to all of the areas. They take part in them and learn to observe them critically. Chalk Talk: The Importance of Attendance
One of the most important things in your school career is faithful attendance. First, the fact of physical presence is very important. How can you learn if you are not there? You need to plan your life so that you never miss classes and so that you attend optional events also. But secondly, and just as important, is one's mental attendance. We all know people who are there physically but mentally are taking a break. Try to be both physically and mentally in attendance at all of your classes and you will meet success.
