Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Berlin District Curriculum

Integration of the Arts throughout the Common Core Curriculum plays an important role in every classroom so that each student has the opportunity to express themselves through different mediums with the intent to achieve the district goals of all students advancing toward college through a continuous improvement process. Teaching and curriculum is an ongoing cycle of revision and development with the purpose of allowing students to master life-long skills.

Berlin Public Schools believes in a common standards-based curriculum for all students but does not subscribe to a prescribed curriculum in which all teachers teach the same lesson using identical materials on the same day. Instead, Berlin Public Schools promotes a common curriculum for all students wherein skilled educators design lessons and deliver instruction to meet the needs of their students. At the high school level, the focus on bridging learning with career pursuits is also a significant goal of the district.
