Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Brandon District Curriculum
The curriculum establishes progressive goals for learning so that students develop their abilities in the major topics of a subject and gain in their ability to do complex work each year. Students also explore various aptitudes that jobs require, and compare those with their personal strengths. A connection between classroom learning and the workplace is made, with students identifying how what they learn today is applicable to their working lives later on. Students also devise educational plans in order to fulfill typical expectations for their job of choice and be prepared for the requirements of college academics.
There are specialized curriculum developed for programs like Sustainable Development, Technology Education and Diversity Learning. All of these curriculum have been developed through collaboration of the Department of Education with educators and professionals who describe what it is a student should learn during their studies. These programs combine field and pre-professional experience with classroom learning which provides an integrated approach that helps students realize the applicability of each lesson.

Chalk Talk: Goals of the International Baccalaureate Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a widely regarded academic option that prepares students for college and life in the global economy. Students can start as early as middle school if a programme is available, and they are introduced to the curriculum structure and its expected learning outcomes. The curriculum requires that students take a First and Second Language, and courses in Individuals & Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics, and Arts and Electives. All students also take a defining course of the program called Theory of Knowledge, which is an integrated, inquiry-based examination of key fields and concepts across disciplines. Outcomes include a strong cultural and personal awareness, and the ability to analyze and integrate different areas of knowledge, which well prepares students for life after graduation.
