Calimesa District and Curriculum
The schools in Calimesa follow the California Content Standards as the guideline for the skills students need to be developing in their grades in order to be prepared for the coming years and to be college and career ready. The Standards, which are the basis for assessments, are developed to be subject-specific and are detailed in their expectations for student learning.
The subjects of Language Arts and Math follow Common Core Standards, which is the national model of achievement for students. The Language Arts framework broadly indicates that in the areas of reading, writing, and other communication skills, students will develop particular skills recognized as essential for success. The strategies that students are taught include a focus on language and its usage, vocabulary, writing processes for editing and revising, researching, oral presentations, and listening in discussions. Students are guided in strategies to read literature and informational texts and to be able to comprehend, analyze and evaluate its contents.
