Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Calimesa District Curriculum

In Math, a similar lay-out for the delivery of skills and strategies is accomplished in topics of algebraic and numeric operations, measurement and data analysis, and geometry. Classes become more specialized in high school, and students need to learn operational and analytic skills that solve problems precisely. These core subjects help students with their learning in History, Science, and Social Studies.

Technology is increasing in use and emphasis. Students are taking on more technical learning and in conjunction with problem-solving and communication skills they have developed, they will be proficiently prepared to take on college and career pursuits.

Calimesa District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The schools in Calimesa follow the California Content Standards as the guideline for the skills students need to be developing in their grades in order to be prepared for the coming years and to be college and career ready. The Standards, which are the basis for assessments, are developed to be subject-specific and are detailed in their expectations for student learning.

The subjects of Language Arts and Math follow Common Core Standards, which is the national model of achievement for students. The Language Arts framework broadly indicates that in the areas of reading, writing, and other communication skills, students will develop particular skills recognized as essential for success. The strategies that students are taught include a focus on language and its usage, vocabulary, writing processes for editing and revising, researching, oral presentations, and listening in discussions. Students are guided in strategies to read literature and informational texts and to be able to comprehend, analyze and evaluate its contents.

We currently cover the following Calimesa-area school district: Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District.
