Cheyenne District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

Cheyenne, Wyoming students are served by the public Laramie County School District Number 1. Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Mathematics, PE, Art, Language Arts, Science and Health are the subjects students in Cheyenne are expected to learn and understand by the time they graduate high school. All students in 3rd-8th and 11th grades are tested with the Proficiency Assessment for Wyoming Students (PAWS). Math, Science and Reading are emphasized on the test.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Cheyenne District Curriculum

Everyday Math is the math program used for grades K-6 to help students build computational and operational skills alongside their introduction to basic geometry and literacy with quantitative information. Various math resources are used for 7-12 grade, including Get the Math videos which promote more thoughts through algebra, and CMAST which teaches both math and science skills together. McDougal-Little, Glencoe, and Key Curriculum Press are also programs used in the upper math levels.

Common Core Standards are used for the Language Arts programs. Writing, reading, speaking, and listening are all covered under language arts curriculum. The outcome of what the students learn is emphasized over how the students learn. Literacy skills are taught throughout all subjects.

There is even a new website to make online payments for school food for convenience.

The Committee advises and supports the district in a range of ways and is a great opportunity for working parents who want to get involved in the school as many meetings occur during the evening.
