Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Conway District Curriculum
In Math, students are expected to show a basic understanding of arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As students master these skills they will be introduced to decimals, negative numbers, fractions, and measurements. Once students reach secondary school, they should have a basic understanding of algebraic functions and reasoning. Students will expand upon this knowledge, exploring more in-depth mathematic topics.
Communication skills are crucial within the Language Arts curriculum. Students are expected to become proficient in expressing themselves through the written and spoken word, as well as interpret the writings and speeches of others. Similarly, students should be able to identify the key elements of plot structure, argumentation, and research. Students in elementary school will focus largely on improving their vocabulary and gaining an understanding of grammatical constructs. Students will then use these skills to analyze and construct complex pieces of writing.

SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Rhetorical Devices: Polysyndeton
When writing, sometimes emphasis is needed. Especially in an argumentative or a persuasive essay, it is sometimes important to draw the reader’s attention to certain aspects of the argument. In this case, polysyndeton can sometimes be helpful. Polysyndeton is a rhetorical technique in which a writer or a speaker overuses conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). This has the effect of slowing down the reader and bringing attention to each individual item. For example, consider the following lines, from Shakespeare’s Othello: “"If there be cords, or knives / Poison, or fire, or suffocating streams / I'll not endure it." The repetition of the word ‘or’ places an emphasis on the sheer number of things the speaker is not willing to endure.
