Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Corte Madera District Curriculum
Math and Language Arts are core subjects that give students the tools they need to master other subjects. They are assessed on a yearly basis because they are critical in overall student achievement. In Language Arts, students are expected to understand and be able to use the language effectively, and to become critical readers who are able to weigh and analyze information. Writing has become a central focus, and students are expected to write extended responses.
In Math, students are expected to develop many problem-solving strategies, ways to analyze data, and use models to answer questions. These skills are necessary in student's Science education, which has become a focus of increased attention in the schools. The Science programs offered in the schools are preparing students for the types of career opportunities which are continually growing.

Corte Madera District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The schools in Corte Madera use the California Content and Core Curriculum Standards as the basis for the educational plan for students K-12. This is a standards-based curriculum and the Content Standard documents clearly explain what students are expected to learn in each grade. Assessments are used to measure student achievement and proficiency in the skills, knowledge and concepts described in the Curriculum.
