Fife District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Fife School District strives to create an early education environment based on learning fundamental skills in its elementary schools to ensure students are ready for middle and high school. For grades K-5 the Treasures English Language Arts curriculum is used. This curriculum builds on skills beginning in kindergarten and also has a built in computer literacy curriculum, which allows students to learn 21st century skills.
The Math curriculum used in the district is Bridges. Students build knowledge in the major topics of Math such as algebra and geometry. In addition to the basic math skills students begin to master, Bridges also teaches students math concepts and how math relates to daily life. This lets students understand why they are performing certain functions in math, generating understanding as they get into higher levels of mathematics. The Bridges curriculum also provides visual models and manipulatives with every unit. This hands-on learning supports a range of learning styles and gives teachers additional instructional approaches for teaching math.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Fife District Curriculum
Fife School District is unique in that it has a middle school (grades 6-7), a junior high (grades 8-9) and a high school (grades 10-12). This system allows the curriculum to be structured to the appropriate grade levels compared with traditional school levels. Students in the middle and junior high continue to focus on math, reading, writing and research skills and begin to apply analysis to the subject material. Once students are in high school, the curriculum opens up many options that students may choose to pick electives from. The elective subjects offered within core academics allow students opportunities to specialize while the non-departmental offerings give students the opportunity to develop new skills and interests.
