Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Glen Cove District Curriculum
In English and Language Arts, students learn from the earliest grades to read materials both fiction and nonfiction and use critical analysis skills to evaluate the reading. The basic strands in the Common Core Curriculum include reading, writing, and speaking and listening in a way that demonstrates control of the English language. Students should learn how to write evidence-based documents that back up their point of view, combines previous and new knowledge, and applies what they have learned to the real world.
In Math, students learn in a progressive stair stepping manner, with increasing complexity. Students in elementary school learn numbers, basic computation, and measurement while middle and high school students add on the study of statistics, probability, with an intensive focus on mathematical modeling and real-world applications. High school students at Glen Cove take an additional three one-year courses in Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry and Trigonometry.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
