Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Green River District Curriculum
Number operations and concepts, geometry, measurement, algebraic concepts and relationships, data analysis and probability play key roles in the mathematic standards. Students need to master the skills by eleventh grade to be considered for graduation. Each of these areas requires students to develop skill sets that allow them find well-reasoned solutions to problems.
The three main standards for Language Arts are speaking and listening, writing, and reading. It is essential for students to learn to speak with all kinds of people, in school and their careers. Listening is a vital skill since to be able to do most tasks a student must first listen to what the teacher tells them to do. Writing and research are important skills needed to be successful in other subjects and to advance one’s own understanding of a subject. Reading is also taught in a manner to support its use in other subjects.

Chalk Talk: How to Help Your Child's Teacher Manage Their Classroom
Classroom management is a main ingredient to ensuring a smooth school day for students and teachers. Parents can help with classroom management as well at home. Go over school and classroom rules periodically to remind your child what is expected of him or her at school. Discuss with your child that they can be a good influence on students around them if they follow school and classroom rules. Since teachers set boundaries in their classroom for students to follow, make sure you set similar boundaries for your child to follow at home. Parents and teachers who work together can further the success of their students.
