Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Green River District Curriculum
Number operations and concepts, geometry, measurement, algebraic concepts and relationships, data analysis and probability play key roles in the mathematic standards. Students need to master the skills by eleventh grade to be considered for graduation. Each of these areas requires students to develop skill sets that allow them find well-reasoned solutions to problems.
The three main standards for Language Arts are speaking and listening, writing, and reading. It is essential for students to learn to speak with all kinds of people, in school and their careers. Listening is a vital skill since to be able to do most tasks a student must first listen to what the teacher tells them to do. Writing and research are important skills needed to be successful in other subjects and to advance one’s own understanding of a subject. Reading is also taught in a manner to support its use in other subjects.

- Green River High School Hall of Fame - The Green River High School Hall of Fame project was started over the summer in 2007. Research was done on all of the yearbooks starting with 1926. Students, staff and other community workers are recognized in five buildings on campus. Academic, sport and individual achievements are recognized from the early start of the 20th century to today.
- Sweetwater Extracurriculars - There are many activities that Sweetwater County School District #2 students can participate in. Various activities include band, debate, vocal and cheerleading. Sports include cross country, football, wrestling, swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, golf and track and field. These extracurricular activities help promote and teach sportsmanship to all students involved.
- Nutrition Program - Meals are an important part in a student’s day. Sweetwater County School District #2 offers a strong nutrition program and free and reduced meals to students who qualify. The nutritional programs are also supported through the input of the community as it’s in everyone’s best interest to raise healthy kids.
