Chalk Talk: How Do I Choose a Tutor?

As a parent, you want to make sure that your child is getting the best education you can provide and you want to know how to help when he or she is struggling in some classes. It is important for you to be proactive in your child’s education at home by keeping on top of homework issues. You need to keep a good line of communication open with your child concerning homework and issues at school. When your child is having difficulties, the first step is to arrange a meeting with the teacher so that the two of you, along with your child, can work together to find exactly where the problem is and then to develop an action plan. Usually, a teacher will inform the parent when a student’s grades become an issue. You may decide that your child needs tutoring, at which point, you will begin exploring options.
