Issaquah District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The core curriculum has designed a course of study that involves broad literacy and communication skills. Issaquah School District starts literacy education in kindergarten and has implemented a curriculum and instruction program that ensures students are literate members of the community. The elements of instruction used at all levels to ensure literacy are alphabetic fluency, subject comprehension and purpose for reading. As students increase their breadth of reading, their analytic abilities also increase.

The district recently adopted the six trait writing curriculum for elementary students to help students develop a range of writing process skills. This takes a process oriented approach where students develop writing using drafting, revising, and editing techniques as central facets. The curriculum in mathematics at the elementary levels ensures students have problem solving skills, conceptual understanding, and computation skills before leaving elementary school. All elementary schools are currently using the Everyday Math curriculum to guide instruction.

We currently cover the following Issaquah-area school districts: Issaquah School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Issaquah District Curriculum

Students entering middle school take either 7th grade math or Algebra 1. Both classes use the Connected Math Program curriculum that includes a wealth of online information for parents to assist their student at home. By their senior year, students in the district have the option of taking either Calculus or International Baccalaureate Mathematics. During their high school English classes, the four basic literacy skills identified by the district are still applied and students develop analytic ability in these areas. Seniors will work on independent studies, research projects and other capstone events that demonstrate their academic achievement.
