Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Jackson District Curriculum

Jackson-Madison County Schools are dedicated to providing a caring environment, in collaboration with parents and the community, to prepare students in becoming productive citizens and leaders of tomorrow. With excellent mentoring, service learning, and cultural awareness programs, all students are expected to succeed to their highest potentials through the Common Core. The curriculum has a range of goals for students including content knowledge, skills building, and critical thinking development.

The TALKS program is a mentor-based instruction format based on content-based curriculum taught within small structured groups. This program not only teaches core subject content, but also helps in the prevention of negative behaviors, based on the research based program founded in Chicago for young students. Supporting children both in academic and behavior aspects leads to positive outcomes in problem-solving for students of all academic abilities.

Contact our Academic Directors Today at 1-877-545-7737 to Discuss your Child's Strengths and Areas for Improvement.

SchoolTutoring Academy’s tutoring programs for Jackson students start with a free academic assessment with an Academic Director. Our flagship tutoring programs are available for $199.99/month which include regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Jackson District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

Jackson schools provide several options for parents choosing good schools. With public, private, magnet, preschools, charters, and Montessori schools to choose from, parents can choose any school in the area, without zoning restrictions. The schools are adopting the Common Core Standards as the curriculum; the CCS provides a basis for Math and English Language Arts instruction and is a model for the learning frameworks for other subjects.

We currently cover the following Jackson-area school district: Jackson-Madison County School District.

Keeping Informed: Recent Jackson Educational News

  • Budget News - With school budgets cut every year, it is an ongoing challenge to secure funding for good teachers, teaching aides, and other staff, while keeping enough funding for resources and materials. JMCS works diligently to remain financially stable to provide quality education to every student. This budget approval will help the district in the areas of teachers, food service staff, and maintenance costs.
  • Anti-Bullying Initiatives - Bullying has become a problem, across geographic areas, social classes, and ethnic groups. Because it’s become a nationwide problem, schools in Jackson-Madison County are taking a focused stand on the problem in numerous ways, including their recent Anti-Bullying Rally. Bullying includes verbal and physical attacks, social alienation, cyber-bullying, and indirect teasing. These are all methods that are used in devaluing people, making their life difficult to face every day. Schools, community, and the nation as a whole are encouraged to be a part of the solution.
  • Read2B Fit Program - Reading and health education are combined for fantastic and valuable results at Liberty Technology Magnet High School. This program involved 20 minutes of reading per day, with healthy messages and concepts incorporated into activities and lessons related to the reading of The Person Who Changed my Life (a book about positive life experiences with mentors). Incorporating healthy messages within instructional reading time not only improves reading (with real-life value embedded), but increases awareness of healthy behaviors.
