Jefferson’s environmental education program introduces middle school students to issues related to environmental quality and natural resource development. Students examine the varying ways in which different cultures use natural resources. Learners explore the types of natural resources available in Wisconsin, such as timber, farmland, and water, and also identify the resources that must be imported in order to meet the needs of citizens. Resource depletion is discussed, with students outlining various means by which humans can work to protect the limited resources we have.
