Educating Our Parents: Understanding the La Habra Heights District Curriculum

The goals which are central to the Language Arts curriculum are the teaching of reading strategies for literature and informational texts and the development of writing processes that supports clear writing for different purposes. Underlying this is a focus on the structure of language and strategies for acquiring new vocabulary. The curricular lay-out for student's math education serves to teach the necessary skills and problem-solving strategies in the different topics of math.

The framework that has been developed for science teaches skills, processes of inquiry and research, and fundamental knowledge in topics like biology, the environment, chemistry and physics. Mastery in the principles and skills of all these topics prepares students for their future learning. Each year students' comprehension grow and they are able to master new content.
