Cobb Counties Social Studies program is dedicated to assuring that each student possesses literacy skills in History, Geography, Politics, and Economics. Foundations are laid in Kindergarten by learning about patriotism and holidays that we as a society celebrate each year followed by both local and global current issues. Additionally, students study their influence on the future world the students will live in as adults. Continuing through high school, Social Studies classes require that students assess multidimensional social, cultural, and ethical issues that exist in our world. Cobb County believes that students need to possess a strong understanding of our past and be able to react with knowledge to current events.

Sweaty Palms, Thrumming heart, rapid breathing... Yep, your child might have a case of test anxiety. That's okay, many test takers get nervous, some even get sick. Here are some steps to help overcome this common problem. Step one; calm down. Instruct your child to begin by taking some deep breaths. Tell them to center their thoughts. Tell them to follow the steps. Now, read a question. What two answers make no sense at all? Those we now know are completely wrong so we can ignore them. What answer do you feel is correct? Can you think of a reason why? Then chances are that is the right answer. Try not to second guess yourself. Simply take it one question at a time and narrow down the choices. In no time at all your child will be a test taking professional.
