Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Manalapan Township District Curriculum
Both local school districts develop curricula that adhere to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, which provide standards and benchmarks for student learning from preschool through the 12th grade. These standards are in place for the major core subjects. The Common Core Standards provide separate guidelines for curricula in the areas of Math and Language Arts.
Given that we live in an increasingly technological world, students in both local districts will notice a particular emphasis on the 21st Century life and careers subject area. The purpose of these standards is to prepare students for life and work in the 21st Century. As early as preschool, students participate in activities that foster social and emotional development, as well as empathy for others. Elementary-aged students begin to learn about financial literacy skills, and are introduced to various career clusters. In middle school, career and interest inventories are administered in order to help students find potential careers that suit their strengths.

SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Important Skills for the 21st Century
When thinking about skills that students need to be successful in the 21st Century workplace, most people immediately think of proficient use of technology. While this is certainly an area in which students must demonstrate high understanding, it is not the only skillset they will need to be successful. Workers in the 21st Century must be creative, innovative and flexible. They must demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with people in different career areas, who speak a different language and who live in areas around the world. They must value the input of others, respect multiple cultures and be able to develop positive interpersonal relationships. Lastly, workers in the 21st Century must be able to synthesize incredible amounts of information from multiple sources.
