Keeping Informed: Recent Maple Valley Educational News
- Classroom 10 - Maple Valley Schools believe that students must be 21st century learners in order to compete, and be successful, in the changing world. In order to assist students in this goal, the district has implemented the Classroom 10 program. This program consists of four focus areas: Accountability, Learning Organization, Professional Development and 21st Century Learning. Each of the four categories has clearly defined goals and visions to assist educators in creating the best possible learning environment.
- Early Entrance - The district has set forth a board policy that allows children to enter school prior to the age designated by the state. Parents are able to request early entrance to kindergarten for their student, and have them tested to show advanced academic ability. The testing is done through an independent testing contractor, which allows it to be objective. Parents are provided with a report of their child's testing outcome regardless of whether or not the child was admitted early entrance.
- Extended Enrichment - Newly opened, extended enrichment is available to all K-5 students in the district. This program gives the students a structured, enrichment environment to go after school until 6pm every night. Educational and recreational activities are offered to all students.
