Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Moorpark District Curriculum

In English/Language Arts, the subject is organized around reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. In Science, students learn about earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology. A range of critical thinking, problem-solving and process-oriented thinking skills is developed by this curricular model.

In specialized programs and electives there are also curriculum that describe the expectations for learning and explain how other learning areas will be introduced to the students. These are all prepared by educators and subject-area specialists to ensure that the curriculum is academically sound and also on target to the field of study.
