Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Mountain Top District Curriculum
Social Studies in the Crestwood School District include the study of history around the world, the nation and the state in aspects of society, culture, and technology. Social studies also includes geography studies, US government, and economics. By learning about this information, students come to understand how they can play a role in the future of their surroundings. These courses expose students to how political and economic decisions are made locally and globally and how this impacts them and the world they live in.
Along with many other curricular offerings, students have courses on Career Education and Work where they identify their skills as well as identifying where they can best serve and work in society as a whole. These classes provide knowledge and help students progress toward education and/or vocational goals. These courses take learning and puts that learning into practical, every day, bread and butter use.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Social Studies
With so much emphasis placed on reading, writing and math, it can be easy to sweep history under the rug as a side thought. Why is it so important after all? Will it affect students in the future? It has been said that those who don’t know what has happened in the past are bound to make the same mistakes. While it sounds cliché, it can be true. Learning history, how the world has worked in the past all over the world, students learn to make connections to the present and the future. Armed with this knowledge they can understand what’s going on now as well as predict what might happen if they carry out a specific course of action. This doesn’t come from simply reading a textbook with a bunch of dates and numbers; it comes from interacting with content and truly engaging in the material. History classes should not be an afterthought since the topic profoundly impacts students not only in the present, but in the future as well.
