Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Newmarket District Curriculum
Although the district is attempting to align its standards with that of the state, particularly, the Common Core State Standards, these standards only serve as a guideline for instructors. Teachers in these lower grades will use proven strategies to help students reach mastery of these skills while also imparting a love of learning. Students will also participate in courses such as Music, Art, and Physical Education.
Schools within the district presently provide a high quality education through a commitment to excellence in instruction and student support. The particular programs offered to support the curriculum include Every Day Math, the Advanced Placement (AP) Program and Virtual High School (V.H.S). Students are also administered evaluations through Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) and the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to ensure they are achieving the curricular expectations.

Chalk Talk: Staying Focused During Senior Year
It’s finally your senior year in high school. After all the college preparation in the form of standardized testing and selecting challenging courses to make your college application more competitive, you may be tempted to slack off toward the end of the year. Try to avoid this common symptom of senioritis. Although it is definitely recommended that you take time to enjoy yourself during your senior year, stay focused on the end goal. Remember some colleges request your actual final high school transcript as a condition for acceptance. You wouldn’t want to let any low grades harm your chances of going to the college of your choice. Also, grade point averages (GPAs) and class ranks are disclosed on transcripts, affecting whether or not a scholarship or grant will be awarded. Hence, it is highly important to continue to do well in your senior year, as not only your college acceptance can be negatively impacted, but also your funding for college.
