Educating Our Parents: Understanding the North Miami Beach District Curriculum

The Math curriculum teaches elementary students about number sense, concepts, operations, measurement, geometry, spatial sense, algebraic thinking, data analysis, and probability. Middle school students learn about number representations, number systems, quantities, 2D and 3D shapes, patterns, and information management. In high school, students may further math skills in algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus.

In elementary school, students learn about scientific inquiry, life science, earth/space science, physical science, the environment, technology, and health. Middle school students encounter experiments, reproduction, heat, light, electricity, earth’s biosphere, technological innovation, and healthy life choices. Available high school science classes include biology, earth/space science, chemistry, physical science, and physics.
