Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Oneida District Curriculum

The schools in the Oneida City School District follow the precepts of the Common Core Curriculum as set out by the New York State Board of Regents. Students are encouraged to develop independent learning skills, communication skills both verbal and written, use technology, have critical analysis abilities, be able to identify and evaluate information, and conduct research.

In English and Language Arts, students will learn to read, write, listen and speak with correct English. Reading will include both informational types of text in addition to a variety of forms of literature. In Mathematics, students have intense learning experience with topics like computation, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics in a progressively more complex program. Students are expected to be mathematically literate by the time they graduate high school.
