Chalk Talk: How to Choose a College

Going to college is one of life’s biggest milestones, and having the right education will help you in your career. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right college. It is not necessary to travel half way across the country to get a good education; and many students want to stay near family. If you know what career path you want, find a college that has a curriculum tailored to your needs. Consider the costs of the college. Are you paying for a superior education, or are you simply paying for the college’s name? Visit more than one college campus to see how you like it. Do you like the dorms, cafeteria, library, and other amenities? Talk to other people about the colleges they attended and what they did or did not like about them. Finally, do not choose a college just because hundreds of other people chose it. Your college education should fit you as an individual.
