Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Peru District Curriculum
The district mathematics curriculum looks at numerical relationships and computation. Students will also improve abstract reasoning skills in classes that may include geometry, statistics, and calculus. In language arts courses, students will read a variety of literature and improve public speaking and writing skills. Vocabulary and grammar are emphasized as well. Students are also encouraged to engage in discussions whenever possible to enhance learning, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.
Students partake in physical education courses where they will participate in activities that promote physical activity. Creative movement is an integral part of dance courses, which are available as electives. Students with an interest in the arts can also take courses in music, visual arts, and theatre. For those with a personal interest in business, world languages, computer design, or accounting, elective are also available. Potential careers can be explored in internships at clinical sites in some courses.

I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: How To Prepare For An Essay Exam
Studying for an essay exam is a little different than studying for multiple-choice tests. It is important to make sure that you understand everything that your teacher has gone over in class. Essay questions will most likely come from lectures or discussions and/or the textbook. If you have time, you may even want to brainstorm a list of possible questions by yourself and with other students. If you have questions about the material, you should ask them well before the test date. When you start the test, you should first slowly read the question. Make sure you understand what the question is asking specifically; some may require you to use your knowledge of more than one topic in your answer. It is also important to make sure that you don’t spend too much time on one question. If you don’t understand it, move on and come back to it later. Finally, making notes or organizing your thoughts in some way is a good strategy to use before you begin writing.
