Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Pomona District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum develops understanding in reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. The emphasis on these areas develops critical thinking and analytic skills in students. In Math, students are taught numerical and algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics.

Other academic subjects and programs provide curriculum that similarly describe the major learning areas of the subject and the skills involved. When students advance in their learning and choose to enter a specialized program that is either skills oriented like a Technology or Culinary program, or enter a college preparatory program like International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement, curriculum are used that provide a similar framework and often introduce other subjects into the teaching of the content.

Contact our Academic Directors Today at 1-877-545-7737 to Discuss your Child's Strengths and Areas for Improvement.

SchoolTutoring Academy’s tutoring programs for Pomona students start with a free academic assessment with an Academic Director. Our flagship tutoring programs are available for $199.99/month which include regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Pomona District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The curriculum used in Pomona’s schools provides a framework to organize teaching and learning in all subjects across the grade levels. This framework describe what it is that students will learn and be able to do upon completion of their coursework. For Math and Language Arts, the Common Core Standards provide this framework. Each subject is organized in major areas of content learning and those areas are supported by sub-skills that help bring about proficiency in the subject.

We currently cover the following Pomona-area school district: Pomona Unified School District.
